Sole Proprietorship

A sole proprietor is an individual who owns an unincorporated business. Most sole proprietors operate a business under a fictitious business name (dba) and an federal employer identification number (in place of the social security number). Although the sole proprietor is not afforded the limited liability protection granted to corporations and LLCs, the sole proprietorship is the most simplistic business entity to set up and manage.
