Q.Can I tape record my telephone conversations with my landlord?

A.No. It is a violation of Penal Code 632 and illegal to tape record any conversation unless all parties to the conversation orally agree on tape to be tape-recorded. Before you tape record a conversation you must get all parties to the conversation to agree.

To confirm that all of the parties have agreed, when you turn on the tape recorder you want to have each party to the conversation acknowledge that they are being tape recorded and affirm their asset to the telephone conversation being recorded.
