Q.What is the maximum interest rate a credit card can charge?

A.Many consumers are surprised to learn that there is no limit on credit card interest rates (APR) under federal law. 26 states, including California, have no limit on how much interest a bank credit card issuer can charge. In California, there is also no limit on how much a credit card company can charge for: late fees, cash advances, transaction fees, stop payment fees, or ATM fees.
