Q.Can an employer deduct the cost of my uniform from my wages?

A.No. Labor Code Section 2802 provides that if a California employer requires its employees to wear a uniform (apparel with a distinctive design and/or logo), the employer must pay for the uniform. See also, Industrial Welfare Commission Orders, Section 9.
