Q.What is the difference between the minimum wage and a “living wage?”

A.Some cities and counties in California have “living wage” laws (e.g. Santa Monica) while other cities have their own minimum wage (e.g. San Francisco). A living wage laws give only some employees the right to a higher minimum wage. Check with your local city or county office to see if the city in which you work entitles you to a higher living wage or a higher minimum wage.
