Q.What is a “common interest development” or “CID”?
A.Pursuant to California Civil Code §1351, a “common interest development” (“CID”) refers to a form of real estate where each owner holds exclusive rights and individual ownership of a private dwelling, and shared rights to common areas (roads, pools, party walls, etc…). The two most common types of CIDs are condominiums / townhouses and the planned development.
