Q.How can I get a debt collector to stop contacting me?

A.If the debt is for a personal, family, or household item, you may stop a debt collector from contacting you by writing a letter to the debt collector, or collection agency, telling them to stop. Once the debt collector receives your letter, they may stop contacting you, except to say there will be no further contact or to notify you if a specific action will be taken.
