Q.Can I get punitive damages if someone breached a contract?

A.Probably not. Punitive Damages are monies given to punish a person who acted in an offensive and egregious manner and are generally awarded by a court to deter the person and others from repeated occurrences of the wrongdoing. In contract cases, absent proof of fraud or some other tortious act, you generally cannot collect punitive damages.
