Q.How should I prepare for a meeting with a bankruptcy attorney?
A.You should prepare a detailed list of all all your property and assets, the names and address of all your creditors and the amount of the debt, and a description of your income from all sources for the past six months, and list of monthly expenses.
Organize each list. For your property and asset list, first list the properties you own and include the address, present mortgage payment, interest rate, outstanding principal balance, and current equity balance, if any. Follow with a list of your assets fully described. For the creditor and debt list, for each debt, include the name, address, telephone number, and facsimile number of each creditor, the principal amount due, if any, any interest owed, what you purchased to incur the debt, and whether the debt is secured by a guarantee, collateral, or lien.
You should also bring a copy of your last filed tax return and pay stubs (if any) for the past six months.
