Q.Will filing for bankruptcy stop lawsuits, judgments & garnishment of my wages?

A.YES. When an individual files for either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, no more lawsuits can be filed against the bankruptcy petitioner, those lawsuiys that are pending will be stopped, and for those in which a judgment has been entered the enforcement proceedings or actions of creditors to collect will also stop (e.g., if a bankruptcy petitioner's wages are being garnished, the garnishment will also be stopped).
