Q.Who can file for a Chapter 7 bankruptcy?

A.Almost any individual, partnership, corporation or trust may file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition if the individual or entity filing: (1) has not previously filed for a bankruptcy within the past 6 years; and (2) resides, has a domicile, a place of business, or property in the United States. 11 U.S.C. sec. 109(g). You can file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition regardless of whether or not you are employed.
